Today i am two days into my third week on actuate. I was prescribed 30mg once a day and don't have another appointment until two weeks time (as I'm on holiday). Id say my acne is moderate- i always have at least 3 or 4 inflamed spots on my cheek area but i wouldn't go as far as calling them cystic. My main problem is closed comedones, i suffer from them on my entire face. Comedones where the main reason i wanted to go on roaccutane because they where so persistent and are impossible to cover with makeup as they are raised. So lets talk about the thing that worries people the most ...
Side Effects- This is where i become a bit confused. In the first and second week my face and lips where super dry and red raw. However this third week my skin is no longer dry? I have not idea if this is due to good management (the skincare I'm using) or whether the effectiveness of the medication is decreasing. Either way it's defiantly something i will mention at my next dermatologist appoint as I'm pretty sure i should have some form of dryness, especially as it had been the most obvious symptom in the previous two weeks.
Itchiness! I have been so itchy since about day four, especially on my arms and my scalp. I don't know if this is due to the fact i haven't made a drastic change to my body and haircare routine unlike my skincare so them areas may be a little dehydrated.
Joint pain has also been very prominent the last few weeks. My back has been really stiff and I'm frequently getting spasms when I'm in certain positions. Ive also found I've been experiencing a lot of shooting pains in both of my hips however this is really difficult to tell if this is the medication or just growing pains- as I suffer from them on a regular basis due to having cerebral palsy and the tightened muscles stretching.
Skin care routine / makeup- I've being keeping everything super simple. I have probably wore makeup about three/four times, i know this is still a lot but i am the type of person that would wear makeup every time i went out and if i decided to wear it, it would always be a full face. I'm talking highlight, contour, blush and most likely a bronze smokey eye. As for skincare I've been using this Simple cleanser to wash my face both morning and night. I recently purchased two things from Clique which are amazing! The first is a high coverage tinted moisturiser which is really moisturising but is oil free so it hasn't been making my comedones worst. I also purchased the high impact mascara which has nothing to do with my acne but its by far the best mascara i have ever tried. Because i purchased two items i got a set with a miniature moisture surge moisturiser and the full sized eye cream, i think its these two products that have stopped my skin being cracked, red and sore- so i would highly recommend if you are currently on actuate.
As for my actual acne update i will be posting one next week as i want to show a comparison picture from the first day to the end go the first month.
